Kicking and Screaming [and Vomiting and Coughing] into His Presence

I’ve been down with the flu for the past few days and this isn’t any ordinary flu I’ve ever had. I have been leveled and bed ridden (I’m mean, my hair even hurts - how does your hair hurt!?!). It’s always interesting what it takes for God to get our attention. Now, I’m not saying that the Lord gave me the flu, but it took something like this to slow me down.
How often do we go at such a non-stop pace that we begin to forget about Him. Have I run out and sold my life into sin? No, but it’s certainly a sin to be “doing good” for Him and to lose Him in the process.
So here I am, achy and hating life, but I’m also spending some long overdue time with my Maker.

Yuck! The worst kind of flu is when everything — even your hair — hurts. It’s just horrible.
It is amazing how busy we can get, and how we can easily lose sight of the purpose. Being sick sucks, but it’s good you’re able to slow down and spend some time and His feet.
Get well soon!

I’ve been reading a book on Sabbath by Wayne Muller in which he makes your exact point — sometimes, if we refuse to slow down and rest, our bodies force us to through illness.
