It always takes me a couple of days to process a trip. And since everyone’s sick around my house that couple of days became a week. But here it is the long awaited Middle School Rock n’ Roll weekend roundup.

First off, this trip was different from the get go. The Lord had been working with me on the recruitment process. Usually I stress and keep after kids to turn in their money and parent slips for the trip. Typically since they are Middle Schoolers, we have a 50% return rate for those who are “really-really” interested, to who actually shows up. So I took a step back. No hounding. No calling. Just prayer, be laid back and give it up to the Lord.

The results were amazing. Besides the fact that I wasn’t stressed out going into the trip. I had to actually turn away kids because we were booked. I know it’s a simple concept, leaning on the Lord, but why can’t I get it! I somehow prefer suffering. So needless to say this was a good start. (to be continued…)

  1. I love the picture. :-)
I seem to prefer stress and worry, too. Mentally I know that leaning on God is how I should handle all of life’s ups and downs, but somehow that little tidbit of information seems to get lost in a filing cabinet somewhere near the back of my head. It’s a simple concept, but it’s not simplistic because it goes against my “natural gift” to worry, stress and freak out about the most inane things.

Stressing out or God’s peace? It doesn’t sound like much of a choice, and it’s really not, but I still too often look to God after I’m already pulling out chunks of my hair.

  2. Hope you have a great trip! I will be praying for the group and staff.

  3. The middle school trip I was talking about happened a week or so a go… but we’re doing the same trip this weekend for high school! Thanks for your prayers!

  4. I know that! It looked like a fun trip based on the pictures. You know… I am slightly in the loop through your wife.
