Everyone in my town is going cuckoo for Huckabee.
I hate them. (See one of more recent posts)
But I’m intrigued by Obama and Huckabee. Both for essentially the same reason, I love to listen to them talk. The rest just grate at me and I have to turn them off. But these two are pleasant to listen to.
nope, my litle brain tries very hard not to think about it.
I’m sure thats bad, and not very christian-like, but it just confuses me and i think God is in control anyways.
isnt there some scripture somewhere about about law and authority. and about this world not being ours.
then i think, but i care so much about environment and health. are politcs and eco-friendly the same?
whoa, its definately friday around here in my brain region.
Politics won’t save the world. Only a relationship with Jesus.
I think a dismissive approach to politics is a little unsettling. The Church really needs to reconsider what our role is in addressing the world’s ills, but I think that politics and government can be viewed as a complimentary partner in bringing about the change we hope to see.
So how do you see this complimentary partnership working out? I’ll admit I’m pretty jaded on this topic, so I’d love to hear a different perspective.
I should note that I’m a firm believer in the separation of Church and State. Having said that, I think that our system of government allows us to voice our concerns and encourage political response to the needs we deem important. I will continue to encourage believers (myself included) as members of the Church to take responsibility for carrying out the mission of God in the world, but I have to believe that part of my responsibility is to address the needs of the world with every resource I possess, one of those resources being the ability to participate in the political response to those needs. I will continue to express my values to those that represent me with the understanding that my vote is simply an extension of my faith. In that regard, I would consider politics and government to be a complimentary partner.
This just asked if we had any thoughts on politics…
My answer is yes.
This article probably states what I was trying to say a little better than I did.
