I was talking with some kids this week and none of them could say that they’ve experienced God in any tangible way. So I told them a story of a healing I’ve experienced and said that there are many more to share from other believers. So do you have any stories from your lives that made you say that God was real?

You post ‘em and I’ll read them to the students Wednesday.

  1. Absolutely! My entire blog is devoted to it…

  2. Or perhaps I should say that my entire blog is born of a God experience, and I know that every moment is a miracle and nothing is impossible.

  3. Stuart,

You know what happened to us recently. I resigned my church for reasons for the sake of my family and not to split the church. I had no idea what I was going to do. I had no plan, just peace that God wanted me to leave. For some reason I walked into the office of a new church in the area. I knew the pastor and I guess I just needed someone to talk to. I wasn’t looking for a job in fact we were convinced that we were going to move. But as I walked in the office the staff was praying–”for me” well not me by name but for a person that would join their staff that turned out to be me. The pastor and I talked for a few min and I told him I had resigned. He said it wasn’t by accident. When he walked in to tell the ladies what had happened one had told the other that I was the one. She had never met me. She then told the pastor that if that wasn’t a God thing she didn’t know what was. This whole experience has been a God thing. I’m way out on a limb. My children are seeing God at work. Cool!

  4. During the holidays a few years back my family and I were supposed to go down to my folks place to get together with members of my extended family. It was the kind of party my dad really liked throwing for members of my generation. At the last minute my wife didn’t feel well but thought she’d be OK in a day or so and would join us then. When the time came to drive back up to get her the weather got bad. Heavy snow through the very hilly part of the world where I live. The route I drove was well back into the countryside meaning I could go for many miles without any sign of people. As the snow fell thicker and harder I realized I was on roads that hadn’t seen a plow in hours and might not see one for hours more. And I started to get scared. I have a lot of driving experience and I knew the road well. And I knew if I got into trouble I was in BIG trouble.
So I said a little prayer. I told God that I’d handle the driving if he could just take care of everything else. Suddenly the fear melted away. The roads were dangerous but drivable (very slowly!) and when I got within 20 miles or so of home they got a lot better.

I thought that was the end of the story. When I picked up my wife she still didn’t feel well but wanted to take the several hour drive back. On the way down she got sick in the car. When we got to my parent house my mom, a registered nurse, took one look at her and said we were going to the hospital. The doctors diagnosed viral meningitis, a very dangerous and potentially deadly infection of the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

Somehow through it all the calm never left me. I was worried but not overwhelmed by the problems facing me (wife in hospital, hours from home and friends with a small daughter). I believe that calmness was God taking care of his part of the deal.

My wife recovered without any lingering effects. The weather cleared and we all went home. My God experiences come in the form of calm in times of trial. It’s happened several times before at times of great stress for me. Either that or in times of great stress I just get real stupid! LOL!

  5. Hey Stuart,

There are many times when I have seen the hand of God at work in our lives. One summer we were going on family vacation and a dear friend of ours called me to stop by before we left. When I showed up she told me how God had been speaking to her about all the money she would spend on doing her hair and nails. She decided to start setting the money for those things aside for a year until she was led by the Lord to give it away. That day she gave our family 10 ($100) Benjamin Franklin bills in an envelope to go for our vacation. We were overwhelmed and left with our tent trailer to go to visit family in Minnesota. On our way home we had a few problems: One was that our transmission had a crack in it and was leaking fluid. So we prayed that we would make it home safely by adding a quart of ATF every fill up. It was messy and smokey at times but we made it home safely and the transmission shop repaired it without charge since they did not fix it right the first time. The second problem came as we were coming into Dickson, North Dakota where our trailer hitch was sagging and about to break. We pulled into a truck stop and talked to the lady at the counter about finding a welder in town to repair our trailer. Little did we know that she was going off work in about 5 minutes. She called her dad who welded trailers together for a living and sent us to see him. While we were waiting, we visited the dinosaur museum, played at a park and had dinner together. About 3 hours later he fixed our trailer and were expecting a whopping repair bill. He really did a great job and went out of the way for us and only charged us 3 Benjamins ($300). All through this we saw how God had taken care of us on this vacation. This is just one story of many in how God has provided for us and protected us along the way in life.

I hope this one helps on Wednesday.

    Bronco
