The Easter season unveiling of a milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ, dubbed “My Sweet Lord” by its creator, left a sour taste Thursday in the mouths of a Catholic group infuriated by the anatomically correct confection.

“This is one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever,” said Bill Donohue, head of the watchdog Catholic League.

The Catholics are fuming mad - and rightly so. This stunt has caused them postpone their plans to unveil Cheesus (a 2 foot tall hors’dourves of Jesus made from Cheddar for Easter celebrations) as seen here. I was a majorly funded campaign set to raise money for the nearly bankrupt Catholic Church. Because of this they stand to lose millions more. Insiders predicted they had a real chance and dethroning Peeps as America’s favorite Easter treat.

Sorry Popie, maybe next year.

Folks, I wish I was making this up.

“Ushers handed out earplugs and fluorescent glow sticks for the “U2 Eucharist,” a communion service punctuated by the Irish rock band’s music. Episcopal parishes from California to Maine have hosted similar events, weaving U2’s tunes — laced with biblical references — into the liturgy.”

Now, I’m a big fan of U2 and a bigger fan of Christ. My only problem with this is that it’s a whole service focused around U2. Now detractors may say that it’s all in the lyrics. The lyrics glorify God. But I just think that something in all of this gets lost in the translation. The focus is off.
