School’s back and it seems that summer is over.  Shorter days are coming. So is the cool breeze of fall is on its way. Instead of mourning summer’s end, let us reflect on the highs of summer.

Here are my top 3 summer moments:

1. Baby girl being born in August

2. We took our first family vacation in June

3. Going on a 6 day backpack trip with middle schoolers in July

 So what are your top 3 summer moments?

It was a fine example of art imitating life or maybe, better put, life imitating art. There’s this episode of Spongebob Squarepants that my kids love. Spongebob and Patrick have these suckers in their hands. Patrick looks down at his sucker and all the candy is gone with only an empty stick left. He yells at Spongebob for eating his candy. All the while, he has the candy smeared all around his lips because he’s eaten his sucker and forgotten. The kids crack up at that one.

Yesterday, all the kids got suckers from a trip to the bank. When they got home everyone was able to eat theirs. Samuel took a bite out of his and then apparently forgot he had taken the bite. The nearest victim to be blamed was our welsh terrier. So holding his sucker and still having candy in his mouth, he proceeds to scream at the dog and burst in to tears. For once in his life, our dog has done nothing. He acted very confused and left the room.

So I’m beginning to believe that our Samuel is turning into Patrick Star. What do you think?

Samuel Delony is 2 years old today! This was taken this morning with our ceremonial frosting pancakes. The party is later today! Happy Birthday buddy.

We’ve had such a mild spring here in Washington. 50’s aren’t my idea of spring weather. Yesterday it peaked at 78! Oh yeah, spring is here.
