I love Raine Maida from his music with Our Lady Peace and his solo work too. I also love watching people do what they can to make this world a better place. He spent a day playing music around the streets of Toronto trying to raise money ($30,000) to build a school in the Congo.
Great song (it reminds me of teens I work with). Great Cause.
All is well on my insane 11 day road trip (pray for my wife!) of the South. I’ll hopefully update you more as I encounter more internet hot spots. I’ve spent time with family that was good, had a retreat with some friends, and, yes, I’ve seen the king (as pictured above). He sends his love (the hunka, hunka burning type).
Tonight, after some spelunking in Tennessee, I’ll be speaking at a youth group, then heading to Atlanta (my old hometown). After the Chaco incident, I’ve absolved my hometown roots of the ATL - I’m a Northwesterner who just happens to follow the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs and enjoys the occasional Chick-fil-A sandwich. So I consider myself a visitor in this large Southern metropolis.
Catalyst starts Thursday and I’m excited to connect with a bunch of you guys. See “ya’ll” soon.
August 25th is our annual Youth Dynamics Golf Marathon. This is one of our major fund raising events for the YD ministry and staff. Typically we have golfers who are business men in the community. This year, the unexpected happened - I had a student ask if he could golf for Arlington YD. So I have a 15 year old student who is going to go and get pledges (the goal is $2500) and golf 100 holes. He’s enlisted me and his brother to help him - but this is no small task. But he believes so much in this ministry that he’s stepped up.
So here’s my request to you. Support these students in their efforts to do something amazing.
All donations are tax deductible. And remember you’re not just supporting a golfer or a ministry. You’re making sure the gospel is spread to teens in one of the most non-churched areas in the United States. The money Valeriy raises will go directly towards supporting the ministry here in Arlington. So, please consider sponsoring these two young men in their efforts.
