I don’t think the Skit Guys are funny…

At all…

In any capacity.

So sue me and take away my Youth Ministry I.D. card.

That’s my confession.

This isn’t really a recap or review… but more of a stream bits from the past week. The conference is really hard to package and summarize, so I’ll just let the bits out as they leak out of my ears.

The first bit of business…. THE BEST BAND FROM YS:

Starfield!

Ha ha. I’m kidding. Oh my gosh I’m kidding. For some reason those guys rub me wrong. I just don’t like ‘em. Maybe it’s because we got them instead of Crower for a worship band or because they seem like American Eagle/Abercrombie Rockers. Either way, they were not the best band of YS.

That honor goes to:

Those guys rocked us out. An amazing blend of music and lyrics. I’m officially a fan now.

This week’s a bit different. You’re not guessing a bible story, but guessing the famous person in the pic (and no it’s not me!).

Just got out of a session listening to Philip Yancey. It was amazing.

He told about a prison in Cape Town, South Africa. There were missionaries who had been working with the inmates for years.

Yancey talked to two men who were serving life sentences for murder. The men were over joyed by the love of Christ and commented that had the never come to prison, they never would have met their Lord.  They lived their lives in prison, but had a cause to bring that love in Christ to other inmates.

God is amazing in how he works in all circumstances.  The fact that he could use or depravity to bring us closer to his divinity. It’s amazing!

Well, I’m off for the next week to the Youth Specialties conference in Charlotte, NC! Should be a blast and I’ll try to update and keep you all informed on how it goes!

Yes, over the course of any long weekend, new catch phrases arise. While there were many good quality phrases… only one rose to the top. “Honey Bucket is the New Chuch Norris.”
