True Love Waits hits Kmart

“Kmart has started selling sweatpants that promote chastity that have the words ‘True Love Waits‘ written on them. The real reason they work is because no one wants to have sex with anyone who wears sweatpants from Kmart.” - Conan O’Brien
Now, I’m an advocate of waiting to have sex before marriage, but the necessity to wear it on a t shirt or sweatpants is ridiculous! Why not just have shorts that says “I don’t’ put out” across the butt - oh wait, they’re already selling shorts with a message across the butt. There’s two things (amongst many) that are wrong with this:
1) Do we need to teach teens to wear their sexuality on a shirt? The purpose of True Love Waits is to teach teens that sex is a sacred act meant for the confines of marriage. So if it’s sacred, should we be wearing it on a t shirt or on a bumper sticker? I cheapens it. It makes it seem as cheap and common, as well, premarital sex.
2) Why they heck are people making a profit out of it?!? Is selling this about getting a message out or making a buck? As many times what starts with a good idea ends up commercialized and wrong.
Those are just my thoughts… what are yours?
