Okay I have an offer for you guys. I said yesterday that I’ll be in the Atlanta area for about 2 weeks in October. During that time I’ll be in Atlanta for the Catalyst conference and also visiting some friends in Nashville.

Here’s my offer. If your church or youth group wants a missionary/speaker to come and talk… I will drive to you as long as you’re within an 8 hour radius of either Atlanta or Nashville. I’m not looking for anything or to get paid. I just think it would be cool to hook up with some of you and experience your minstries. Besides, how can you turn down free?

So anyone want a free missionary?

Well thank you to all of those who help contribute! You helped to make this a successful year. Arlington YD raised almost $5,000 and I personally raised $1800 for my own personal support. We were truly blessed.

And also, yes, I wanted to brag about myself and the many awards I won. I won the prize for highest score (775 strokes on 100 holes) and if you don’t believe me - note the picture and my amazing skills to whiff the ball (or maybe I’m a left-handed golfer with excellent form). I also won for most balls in the woods with a whopping 63. So yes, my dear friends, I made you proud. I’m always willing to make a fool of myself for a good cause.  It also tells me I don’t need to quit my day job, because the PGA won’t be knocking on my door anytime soon.

Thanks for all of your support!

Okay here’s my pitch.

I will buy one of you a free, round-trip ticket from your place of origin to Seattle and back.

The catch? You have to be willing raise money to play in a fundraising golf tournament where you play 100 holes of golf in day (6am -6pm)!

Here’s what you have to do. You go around getting people to pledge for you to golf per hole (at church, work, neighbors, etc.). You are not collecting money, just getting pledges (and addresses from pledges - our ministry will bill them once you complete the tourney). The minimum goal would be to get $25 per hold raised or $2500 total. That’s the minimum. If you raise more there are prizes - from a new set of clubs to a trip for two to Mexico.

The cause? You’re raising money to support the work of a missionary (me) who works with at-risk, rural, unchurched teens.

It’s a fun day of golfing. You get pampered plenty. Get a free trip to the Pacific Northwest. And it goes to a good cause. So, what more could you ask for?

Any one interested, email me and I can give you more info. The tournament is Monday August 25th. And like I said before, I’m willing to pay for your plane ticket…

Ministry is always a series of ups and downs while following after the Lord. Recently, I’ll have to tell you that I’ve been riding up and down, wave after wave. For those of you who do not know this; I am a support based missionary. This means that amazing people, financially support me and my ministry to teens on a monthly basis. Without regular support, I can’t be here, doing what I do. But with life and the economy always in flux, some people support you for long periods of time and others just for a season. It’s that ebb and flow of support based ministry.

So every once in a while I like to extend the offer to you, dear blog readers, the opportunity to join my support team.

So what exactly do I do? My job is to reach out to unchurched teens in Washington, journey with them, and offer them a hope and life in Christ. I am the director of Arlington Youth Dynamics a ministry located in Arlington, WA (www.yd.org). We deal with mainly broken, at-risk kids. I love being apart of what the Lord is doing in the lives of these amazing kids.

If you’re interested, go here to join and all gifts/support is tax deductible. If you have more questions shoot me an email (sdelony@yd.org) and we can chat.

Here’s a testimony of what God is doing in the lives of students.
