Making All Things New

Posted by stuartdelony at 15th July, 2010

I always looking for real world examples to back scripture.

Revelation 21“Behold, I make all things new”

Now I know in the history of Christendom this will be seen as a pretty communion wafer thin example, but nonetheless I like it.

Do you remember back in the 80′s? The band INXS? Well remember the song, “Never Tear Us Apart”? You know the one with the over the top orchestra and that “cheesy is good” vibe that permeated that decade…

Here’s your reminder.

The band Record Club (put together by Beck) has redone the song. I love how you can find beauty in making things new. The Lord continues to make things new in us. And I like anything that remotely reminds me of the newness that He’s working in me (2 Cor 5:17).  So what is God creating new in you?

Belated Wed Mix: I Love Spring, but Hate Pollen

Posted by stuartdelony at 20th May, 2010

Spring is here and so are my allergies. It usually doesn’t bother me, but this year is special for some reason. I can’t complain though, I do love spring. You can’t beat the flowers in bloom and nature at it’s best. Spring also means longer, warmer days – so enjoy these chill, warm [alt-rock] tunes.

We are the Word. We Are Velveeta…

Posted by stuartdelony at 14th February, 2010

The song was cheesy in the 80′s, but everything was cheesy in the 80′s. That worked back then.

Now? It’s just a bad rehash that’s more self-serving that anything. A touching tribute? Pleezzzze. It’s lame. It’s cheesy. I felt dirty after watching it. And seriously,  you’ve got a room filled with 60 or so mildly talented singers/musicians. Can’t anyone write a new song?

If you really want to help make a difference, forget Miley Cyrus and the bunch. Just go over to World Vision, who’s doing some actual work to make a difference.

Sonic Screwdriver

Posted by stuartdelony at 14th December, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard enough Christmas music to choke a reindeer. Need a break? Yes, you do.

Here’s a mix full of big sweeping sonic sounds. Oasis, 30 Seconds to Mars, OneRepublic and more…

[And bonus points if the SciFi geek in you knows the meaning behind the mix title]

Thursday Mix: The New Old

Posted by stuartdelony at 10th September, 2009

Hopefully your week has been treating you all well. Mine has been giving me the “read headed stepchild” treatment.

Here’s your mix of the week – all filled with songs that are relatively new that sound like they’re from an older era. Any others to add to the mix?

Enjoy!
