Needless to say that I’ve had a chip on my shoulder lately. I get frustrated with the way the church in America is going these days. It seems like it wounds more than it heals. And yes, I get frustrated, angry, fed up - from time to time (or daily).

But leave it to a dear, good friend to cut me to the core. I received an email that recentered me. He didn’t rebuke me, but simply shared from his life to give me perspective. I want to share some of the great truth he shared with me:

Over the last several months God has clearly given me an understanding of the critical spirit I had begun to harbor. It started off primarily defending the true principles of Jesus, loving and caring for each other, accepting all people, but then it became more of a battle of rightness, which is wrong. All of the things I was spouting against are indeed happening in reality in the organized church and in many believers lives, but I’m just not sure any of that contention brought me closer to Jesus, in fact it may have directed me away from Him.

Thank you my friend for sharing that with me.
